I love donuts. No, seriously, it's like a romantic thing with me. I'm very affectionate with my pastry!
When I got to work today, I went to Club 40 and saw that, unlike many days, they had donuts. Good donuts and a bunch of them. I could have bought four of them. I would have enjoyed them very much. Instead I had powdered eggs. Life isn't fair.
I also had bacon and a sausage patty and a salad with chicken for lunch and left over quiche for dinner with canned fruit and sugar free Jello for dessert. Nuts for a snack. I know you know most of this.
The worst part is that when I went to get my salad at lunch, two of the donuts from breakfast were wrapped in plastic and still for sale. But, they are never as good that late in the day. What a waste. I would have made a good donut daddy. A proud pastry parent!

Jericho! I am so proud of you for resisting the donuts!! I love them too, but they don't love me. Makes me want more and more of the stuff that isn't good for me. :) But you resisted. Go you!
However, do pray tell, what are powdered eggs? They sound revolting. :) Seriously, no chickens where you live?? :)
I did much better yesterday, got in some good exercise, and am going to keep up the trend today.
You can too! Keep up the great work!!
Rock on with your bad self! Great job on avoiding the donuts!
damn you are a strong man. when I drive past krispy kreme and that lovely sign is glowing orange meaning the donuts are fresh and HOT now... I usually stop and indulge a little. Good job!
Sue, I have a feeling you were not in the military! Powdered eggs are dehydrated eggs - just add water! They're cheap, that's why they get used in my cafe - which is just a nice thing to call the canteen in the salt mine. And yes, they are usually pretty bad. Some days, I think they mix them with some real eggs - or I'm just so hungry I don't care. Other days, like today, I ate two bites and tossed the rest.
Fridays are omelet days, they use real eggs for those. There used to be an older guy that worked at Club 40 that, when he saw me coming for breakfast, and they had a grill out for french toast or whatever, would grab real eggs and fry'em up right! I really MISS him!
And damn them! Those donuts from yesterday were still out, wrapped in plastic. Umm ... ew! What a TOTAL waste!
Ya know, Krispy Kreme showed up out here a few years back, and, well, they're okay. They are donuts after all. I think of them as the Dominos or McDonalds of donuts; always consistent, but boring.
I grew up in St. Louis. Alton Brown stopped there to get donuts on one of his shows - that's what I'm talking about! Real Donuts! Fried in lard, coated in icing, filled with goo, made with love by sexually frustrated Catholics!!!
AMEN to that, brother. McArthur's bakery has the BEST donuts to me. You can't get a vanilla long john (like a "maple log" to you weirdos out West) at Krispy Kreme. So, I agree- KK will do in a pinch, but the real donuts are at a bakery. I even think Wal-Mart's donuts are better than KK.
