Just to make it official ...

Food for the day:

Soy milk with meds. Two strips of bacon and a sausage patty plus maybe three bites of the powdered eggs. (I put in my suggestion last week - I guess they haven't gotten there yet.)

Lunch was salad with left over turkey, plus two fruit cups in Splenda syrup. Probably won't buy those again, the mandarin oranges were totally tasteless and smelled weird. There were nuts here and there to keep the tummy happy.

Dinner was essentially chili on salad with sour cream - my wife's idea of "low carb taco salad."

Nothing wrong with the day.

I wish I had your will but salads do nothing for me.

Do you ever snack on unsalted pistachios? Those are good.

I can't stand unsalted nuts. I have to watch my salt intake, but my nuts need a little salt!

Ooo... I'm all about taco salad. I skip the bread products when we have tacos. I'm not specifically on a low-carb diet, but I try not to eat much bread. Now, I haven't put chili on my lettuce before.

Hey Jericho, have you thought about cutting your nuts with the unsalted variety? I didn't mind switching to unsalted peanuts, but I'm just weird like that. A mix of lightly salted and unsalted nuts might help you ween down your sodium intake a little though.

Oh yeah! I certainly have to watch how salty my nuts get ...

(This comment string is getting worse by the moment!)

But, seriously, the little store in the lobby of the building where I work sells salted and unsalted peanuts and cashews as well as Planters Dry Roasted Peanuts (those have sugar in them - watch out!)

I buy the Planters jar, as it empties, I refill with unsalted nuts, then add some salted then unsalted, etc. This spreads out the seasoning off the original Dry Roasted nuts a bit and evens out the salt from the other nuts as well.

Has anyone bought simple seasoned salt and dumped it on unsalted nuts? I keep thinking about it - it would allow one to control their salt intake if it worked!

Somehow, simple seasoned salt doesn't stick to unsalted peanuts. It just all filters to the bottom of the jar. I bet there are low sodium salted peanuts out there somewhere.

I think sea salt has less sodium, you could try looking for peanuts salted with it.

I found some "lightly salted" Planters nuts Friday night. They're good - they have additional sugar, but they are tasty.
