Disappointed

I stayed on the diet and put on six pounds. Terrific.

Friday, I had the shakes again even though I stopped for lunch while I was out delivering my papers.

I'm very confused. Are my portions too big? Too much salt? Not enough water? I certainly haven't gotten to the gym.

Disappointed … but not defeated.

so I'm going through a similar problem. if I monitor what I eat and carefully track everything, I plateau. If I target the 1000 cal/day deficit, I can't lose a damned pound.

After 2.5 years of calorie restriction (and 4 months of learning how to be a personal trainer) I have discovered I am eating too little. I need to eat between 1800-2400 cal/day (with a significant number of those calories coming from carbs) for me to lose weight.

When I say Carbs, I mean fruits/veggies and the like. I work out once a day (two times or more on class days) and the 1200-1500 calories a day simply are not enough.

Track your food. Find out what you are eating. You may find out, you're not eating enough. It's a closely guarded secret (because many people will tell you that american's don't need to know it) but you need to EAT to LOSE (you just need to eat the right stuff.

if you are not working with a doctor on a medically proscribed diet, touch base with me and send me a food log for three days along with any dietary restrictions. I'll make some suggestions.

What you do with them from there is up to you.

I just want to say keep it up! I know how hard it can be to lose weight and I was hitting random blogs and came across yours and I want to be your cheerleader. Don't give up! If you want some excellent movies to watch to help motivate you along in the right direction here are some great ones:

Food Matters
Food Inc.
The Gerson Miracle
The Beautiful Truth
Raw for 30 days

I think you can get most of them on netflix. Even if you don't watch any of them, know that random people out there support you!! Don't give up!
